6 Week Off Piste Snowboard Course Whistler
Overview
This 6 week snowboard course is all about riding off the piste and seeking out powder. Based in Whistler, home of Canada's most varied terrain, the options are limitless. The course combines technique training to get you riding more accurately on varied terrain, avalanche safety skills, backcountry hut touring and of course, as much powder as the conditions allow. Join the Powder Club.
This course can be combined with the 5 week snowboard instructor course which provides a great base in all mountain snowboard technique.
The Training
The training encompasses all mountain coaching from some of Whistler's best snowboard instructors and ACMG guides. Whistler, and the surrounding area is so varied and the training aims to take in everything - from improving technique in the big open alpine bowls, tree runs and the backcountry.
The snowboard training on this course is aimed at confident resort riders who are capable to ride on all pistes in a resort and who want to to begin riding on steeper terrain and who LOVE powder.
- Small Class Sizes (8 absolute maximum per instructor)
- Full Day lessons
- Video Analysis
- Personal Feedback
- Fun & Progressive Environment
The instruction is split into two distinct areas. We aim to improve your technical snowboard technique with the CASI instructors by riding as much varied terrain as possible. Although you will be hunting out powder as much as possible, some sessions are spent on the piste in order to carry out drills necessary to take the step forward into the more testing terrain. The other sessions are led by avalanche trainers and ACMG ski guides and the aim of these is to teach you avalanche safety skills and guiding you in the backcountry.
A highlight of the course is a 3 day cat riding trip accessed by snowmobile where you will experience the best of Canada's backcountry snowboarding.
Who Is This Course For?
This is not a ski or snowboard instructor course. It is squarely aimed at snowboarders taking a gap year or career break that are already confident resort snowboarders but want to step up to the next level, and who are primarily motivated to get better at riding off piste and more accurately across the whole mountain whilst exploring North America's greatest area.

The Spearhead Glacier, Whistler Backcountry
Whistler
Whistler is consistently voted North America’s number 1 snowboard resort. Compared to other Canadian resorts, we feel Whistler is clearly the best option for an extended course and is one of the few that has easily accessible, large scale backcountry riding. It offers so much more terrain, longer runs, better snow reliability, faster lifts and a more vibrant community. There’s nothing worse than having to ride the same terrain over and over having covered a whole resort in a few days.
Course Accommodation
We know just how important comfortable, well located accommodation is. On an extended course, living in a chalet or condo (as opposed to a hostel or hotel) is the best option as it means you really have a place to call home during your time in Whistler

Course Meals
Delicious & nutritious dinner is essential when you’re riding. Meals on the Alltracks course are sociable occasions where you catch up with others from the course.
