The ALLTRACKS 11 week snowboard instructor course is the ideal way to spend a season riding. It will take your snowboarding to the next level, you will earn recognised snowboard instructor qualifications and it will give your career break or gap year focus and purpose - whether you want to go on and instruct or just really improve your all mountain riding. It is not just about the time you spend on the hill though, our team will ensure you make the most of your time on and off the slopes making your snowboard instructor course on of life’s best experiences.

Dano Pendygrasse, Whistler Blackcomb

With many boarders being largely self taught, you will benefit from thorough coaching from some of Whistler’s top pros. Our Lead Instructor is also Whistler Blackcomb's Head Snowboard Trainer. For the initial few weeks, you will explore Whistler’s vast area as well as concentrating on your technique in order to build on your strengths and to tackle the weaknesses. With the aid of video analysis (which is pretty amusing when it’s not you in front of the camera), you will soon have ironed out any major problems in you technique. Following this, the instruction will concentrate on the CASI Level 1 syllabus working on the actual drills you will need to perform and practicing the most up to date teaching methods. After the CASI Level 1, we conduct much of the Avalanche Skills training and backcountry off piste snowboarding, led by highly qualified and inspiring guides.

After the CASI Level 1, which is in Week 5 of the course, you can decide whether to go for further qualifications, or concentrate 100% on your own All Mountain improvement. Regardless of whether you decide to opt for additional exams or not, the second part of the course includes a great deal of snowboarding more challenging terrain, enjoying the deep powder of Whistler Blackcomb and steeper, technical descents. With the instructors and guides we have, you will be ready for it. As ALLTRACKS has been the most popular instructor course in Whistler since we launched, there has been the benefit of having multiple ability groups. This means that for people who have not done a lot of snowboarding, there is no pressure to keep up with others with the feeling that you are holding them back. Similarly, for those of you who arrive already riding to a high standard, you should feel confident that there will be others keen to ride fast and hunt out powder from the very start. Saying that, every year we always have snowboarders who may have only done a few weeks of riding, but are already of a good standard.

At ALLTRACKS, we refrain from working off an exact schedule in order to make best use of the conditions and client wants/needs. However, most days are split into two distinct sessions to give you the best balance. One of them will be a high tempo, high mileage session where you will hit the best conditions available. Feedback will generally come at the end of runs or on the chairlift. The other session follows a more deliberate path, where you will work on drills to improve particular aspects of your technique and concentrate on the ways to take your riding to the next level. The video cameras will come out and you will receive detailed feedback on how you are doing.

Backcountry Training

The snowboard is arguably the ultimate powder tool and the ultimate thrill for many is riding through deep, untouched powder.

All our instructor courses also include lots of time riding powder and as well as imporving technique, we want to give a proper introduction to avalanche safety. On the ALLTRACKS 11 Week Instructor course, we include:

  • Official Canadian Avalanche Association Avalanche Skills Level 1 (AST 1)

Whistler - Canada's No. 1

Our snowboard instructor courses are based in Whistler, consistently voted North America’s number 1 resort. (13 years in a row by Transworld Snowboard Magazine) There are countless resorts in which you can take an instructor course, but Whistler is clearly the best option, especially for an extended course. It offers so much more terrain, longer runs, better snow reliability, 5 terrain parks for all levels, faster lifts and a more vibrant community.

Accommodation

We know just how important comfortable, well located accommodation is. On an extended course, we feel that living in a chalet or condo (as opposed to a hostel or hotel) is the best option as it means you really have a place to call home for your 11 weeks.

Alltracks accommodation is well located, close to central Whistler and not in the outlying areas. All have comfortable sitting rooms to relax with TV, DVD etc, well equipped, modern kitchens, free wireless internet and most have hot tubs too.

Claire Wilson

I wanted to do the course to push myself beyond my comfort zone, meet like minded people and gain the qualification to boot. It definitely delivered. The Alltracks accommodation was awesome, all with hot tubs and all in great locations and the he boarding instructors we had last year were brilliant.
I can definitely recommend Paul and co at Alltracks.

Meals

Delicious & nutritious dinner is essential when you’re snowboarding hard. Meals on the ALLTRACKS course are sociable occasions where you catch up with others from the course and regale each other with the day’s powder adventures.
