Weekend FAQS.

WHAT DO WE DO AT THE WEEKENDS?

As you will probably have discovered we do not run the formal ski and snowboard coaching during the weekends of the courses. This allows time to go free skiing or riding with your mates and also gives you time to get invloved in all the other things Whistler and the surrounding area have to offer. The ALLTRACKS team will organise at least one activity per week where people are welcome to get invoved if they wish. This varies from a simple trip to the movies to a weekend down in Vancouver, one or North America's coolest cities. Additionally, there is the new Core climbing centre, a great sports centre with swimming pool and heaps of bars and cafes to chill out in after a hectic week.

We find that virtually everybody, even the super keen ones, will want at least a full day off per week to recuperate, chill out and recharge the batteries. This also gives the opportunity to catch up with emailing friends and familiy back home and get any admin and shopping done too. Additionally, people often might just do a half day on the hills on a Sunday at a more leisurely pace, before the start of another jam packed week.

One of the best things about Whistler is that it plays host to a heap of festivals and ski & snowboard competitions throughout the season and there is a real party atmosphere. It is an awesome opportunity to check out some of the best skiers and snowboarders from around the world hitting the Blackcomb Park - we guarantee that you will be absolutley enthralled. As well as ski & snowboard comps, there are film festivals, music concertts and theatre productions too. The ALLTRACKS team will keep you updated with all that is going on.

Revelstoke is a little more low key, but has a great vibe with a few cool places to chill out in. Also, it isn't too far from Whitewater, Kicking Horse or Lake Louise so the option of exploring these other resorts is there too. Don't you love Road Trips?

Depending on the schedule, our additional training or exams may sometimes take place during the weekends. Everyone on an ALLTRACKS course takes part in a winter first aid course and the Canadian Avalanche Association's offical Avalanche Skills Course Level 1. These are both really fun, interesting aspects to our course which also give an important introduction to skiing and snowboarding off piste and operating in the backcountry.

WHAT DO WE DO IN THE EVENINGS?

After a full day on the slopes, we know people are going to want a filling and nutritious meal. So, after getting showered and changed, we eat together as a group in a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the food and listen to each others stories of the day's heroics. After that, people will generally either chill out in their chalet to watch a DVD or enjoy the hot tub on thier deck. However, if you are feeling energetic and up for a night out, Whistler has loads of bars and clubs and probably has the best apres ski atmosphere of any Canadian resort. Revelstoke has a slightly more relaxed pace with just a handful of bars etc. However, we love the place and if you want to spend the winter in a cool, relaxed town with an awesome mountain, then Revelstoke is the place.
