Revelstoke Ski & Snowboard Instructor Course Diary - Week 2
SKI & SNOWBOARD INSTRUCTOR COURSE
WEEK 2
Week two helped everyone slowly realize their serious lack of physical fitness, with the Ski Pros picking up the pace after we recovered from our jet lag. Everyone had their skiing and snowboarding techniques torn apart and re-built to the ski/snowboard- pro model. With this new model came the use of muscles we never knew exsisted We still have a long way to go to match their fitness and talent on the hill. Everyone has agreed that we are all benefiting tremendously from their helpful tips and training exercises.
The modern café continues to impress use with their amazing homemade creations. Thursday night provided a tasty trip to the Orient with miso soup and a creamy coconut Thai vegetable dish. We've also made Thursday night our official movie night at Revelstoke's luxurious Roxy Movie theatre, this week we saw Yes Man starring Jim Carrey, all involved enjoyed the movie with its sharp wit and charming love story. Hugo Hunt celebrated his twenty-fifth birthday in style, with a little help from the rest of the boy's, going to the classy Regent bar followed by the 'Out of Bounds Night Club'. Hugo busted out his break dancing skills and Ian Allen showed all the young-guns how it was done on the dance floor, impressively, without breaking a hip. Each member of the All-tracks crew enjoyed another great week, except for our favorite Merseysider….
Mark McLennan: Mark fell awkwardly on his shoulder and unfortunately fractured his collarbone this week while shredding down the hill. The doctors said he'd be out for six weeks and he has flown back to Liverpool. It was a downer for everyone in the group but we all hope it won't be the last we see of him.
Daniel Tweitman: The unstoppable snowboarding force that is Daniel Tweitman managed to board for twelve days straight. We all suggested that he should take a day off but he wasn't going to stop for anybody, even common sense. He hurt himself on Sunday and had to take a half day off on Monday…HA!
Chris Stoel: The ex-British Racer has had to cool his jets and slow down to re-vamp his style. He's been a good sport and taken all the advice given to him probably because he's in love with our instructor, an ex race coach.
Finn McCance: Finn's skiing talent has only been matched by his determination to improve in all aspects of the sport.
Sean (American Sean): Sean has maintained his laid-back American profile and happens to be a romantic, making a seven hour journey to Washington State and back to see his high school sweetheart over the weekend.
Tomek: This man may seem mild mannered and innocent with strong hip thrusting ski style but he has a killer instinct when it comes to the ladies. They just couldn't get enough of his eastern European charm…that's right eastern European charm.
Hugo Hunt: Hugo has been setting a great example for his fellow All-Track peers. He has made it his duty to make sure that everyone is in there rooms sleeping at one AM sharp so that they can be fresh for training early the next day.
Alison: Our blonde aussie sweetheart has been echoing through the everglades of Revelstoke with her hysterical giggles, which makes it impossible to lose her on the hill.
Raefe: The shapely legged Captain has blown Instructor Julie's mind away with his progress. Sadly for Julie he will be hugging his pillow pining for his "wife" Alison when she returns to Australia, we're sure he'll get by with a little help from his all-track friends. Dan North: Dan has surprised all the snowboarders with his natural skills with this past week only being his third week on a board…EVER. He also does a really good Michael Jackson impression. Dave Jackson: Dave has impressed everybody, and scared some with his daredevil antics on the snowboard. He also set a lifetime high of 127 words this week. Shaun Easton: This conquering Aussie has been graceful on the hill but has had some trouble walking along the icy roads of Revelstoke in the early hours of Saturday morning. Ian Allen: The Glasgow giant has showed us all what he's really made of and put forward the idea that you can indeed teach an old dog new tricks. Beth: Beth had a quiet start, but the baby of the group has put her fun-loving nature and skiing skills on show for all to enjoy. She also has the Xena yell down to a tee. Jonathon Drew: Our fearful leader has started ski instructing at Revelstoke this past week after sucking up his rib injury. He can be seen leading lines of children with helmets bigger than their bodies down the slopes in a tight green jacket, which he bought because he said "it makes him look buff and sexy."
